Theatrical trailer for Stones Throw ‘movie’, looks pretty intrestin…
Timmon Records in Helsinki, Finland – the home of Myron & E’s band & collaborators The Soul Investigators – have released their own custom versions of the Myron & E recordings, cut right at home in the Timmion Cutting Laboratory. The two albums are strictly limited edition vinyl releases, packaged with old school thick cardboard sleeve and “tip-on” cover.
Continuing on the little Stones Throw / Now Again Records update I just noticed this.
The collected recordings (1973-1977) of India’s best-known psychedelic rock ensemble, and the story behind their genesis in an extensive booklet full of rare photographs.
Release date: January 24, 2011
2/LP, CD and digital available now from stonesthrow.com
Now-Again Records presents an important document of India’s little know psychedelic rock period. Obsession collects a wealth of rare and unreleased psychedelic rock and funk from the various incarnations of the Atomic Forest.
The Atomic Forest’s mix of blistering, fuzzy rock and synth-lead funk inspired collectors the world over to fork over thousands of dollars for original copies of their solitary release, Obession ‘77 . Part of the interest certainly stemmed from its liberal doses of searing fuzz guitar. Part of it sprung from the oddity of it all: India, a country that had, quite literally, churned out tens of thousands of albums during psych- and hard-rock’s heyday, only produced this one, lonely psychedelic album? Part of it sprung from the album’s rarity: unknown for years, Obsession ’77 suddenly became a top want on every global-rock collector’s short-list. Now, packaged in a paste on CD Sleeve with O-Card and a in a deluxe 2LP slip case, this ungodly fusion of funk and psychedelia – along with Egon’s extensive liner notes and annotation – is available to all.

Last summer, while prepping his debut album Twirligig, Jonti put together the “Sine & Moon Mix” for the Stones Throw Podcast, a collection of earlier songs he’d recorded on 4-track. In the months since the mixtape, he’s been hit up with requests for the individual tracks, and so Sine & Moon (The Album) came about.
“People liked the songs on the Sine And Moon podcast, so I wanted to get them out for free. So I turned it into an album with extra’s, new mixes and original Jeff Jank Artwork. I really love these songs and I hope you enjoy!” – Jonti

Sweet! Should mean mine rocks up next week!!
The history of MF DOOM’s debut album OPERATION: DOOMSDAY is a spotty one – it’s been released in at least two different versions on different labels, out of print, bootlegged, and even released once with a cheap scan of the original cover.
This Spring DOOM’s own label Metalface Records will be releasing the first complete & remastered version of OPERATION: DOOMSDAY, containing the original album, alternate versions, b-sides and instrumentals – 51 tracks total – with all new artwork and two deluxe, metal formats:
LUNCH BOX 2/CD and METAL 4/LP BOX each containing a 32-page lyric book, and set of 10 cards with images of the Operation Doomsday MCs.
Stones Throw will have an advance sale on these two formats. Complete photos and pre-sale will be announced soon. The artwork, which we previewed last year, was created by Jason Jagel and Jeff Jank, who also designed Doom’s 2005 album MM FOOD.
